1977 - Elvira Toepfer
Elvira Toepfer, already a WIBC Hall of Fame member and Detroit Hall of Fame member, was inducted into the Michigan WBA Hall of Fame on May 21, 1977 in Battle Creek. Mrs. Toepfer won the BPAA Women’s National Doubles title with Anita Cantaline in 1956 and was a five-time member of Detroit’s All-City team.
Mrs. Toepfer was Detroit’s Queen of Bowling eight times, and is a former member of the Women’s Professional Bowling Association. She was awarded the “Woman of the Year” by the Greater Detroit Bowling Proprietors.
Elvira started bowling in 1940 and had bowled eleven 700 series by May 21, 1977. Elvira carried a high average of 205 in 1969, bowled her high series of 752 in 1966, a high game of 289; and is sporting a 186 average this season.
Mrs. Toepfer, of East Detroit, received her award for Superior Performance.
