2009 - Connie Schedler

Connie always had a love for bowling and tagged along with her dad to watch him bowl. Since there were no women’s leagues where she grew up it wasn’t until she was married and moved to Virginia Beach that she was able to join her first league. Then they moved to Maryland and she not only joined a league she also became a league secretary.

In 1980 they moved to MI and by 1983 she was a director on the Southwestern MI WBA board, and by 1987 she was Association Secretary. She held this position for 12 years, until wintering in Florida forced her to retire. Connie was not satisfied to simply process memberships, and handle the day to day requirements of the position she sought new ways to promote bowling and Increase the membership. Whether it’s marching in a parade, setting up an Adopt-a-Road program or a bowling display at the local library you knew Connie was behind it.

She serves as a Life Member by assisting whenever and wherever she is needed. Connie was appointed to the MI Women’s Bowling Association Board as Director #9 in 1996 and held that position until it was eliminated and she chose to resign rather than to try to unseat another. Other committees served were Publicity 9 years, Membership Ad Hoc and Awards & Services years and 75th Anniversary 1 year.

Connie’s goal was always to make things the best that it could be. This goal was achieved in 1997 when her local association was one of only a few to earn Four Star status with WISC. She has won two NWBW writing contest awards and 3 Photography awards. Other honors are Southwestern MI WBA Secretary of the Year 1987, MI WBA Secretary of the Year 1995 and inducted into the Southwestern MI WBA Hall of Fame in 1998.
